Taking bold steps towards reading

In one of the early morning lessons captured today, pupils in reception and year 1 classes have started reading and writing simple words, phrases and sentences. They are making good progress towards being able to decode any unknown words in age appropriate texts.

“The more you read, the more things you know”

We know that it is important for children to learn to read as quickly as reasonably possible, so they can move from learning to read to reading to learn, giving them access to the treasure house of reading.
